Black Series Premium Roleplay Helmets

In taking over the premium role-play segments for our collector line, I wanted to ensure that there was a deeper pursuit to deliver screen accuracy and more meaningful play experiences. Over the course of 2 years, I was able to implement several new manufacturing processes, along with a number of new game-play designs that were influenced by consumer feedback and catered to fans of all ages.

Luke Skywalker Helmet

The Luke Skywalker helmet was a great opportunity to begin to implement these changes and set this helmet apart from designs that had come before it. Equipped with a 360-degree augmented experience, this helmet would deliver multiple simulations that would evolve and progress every time that you wore it. From take-off to taking down the Deathstar, when you put on the red five helmet, you truly feel like a hero of the rebellion.

ESB Boba Fett Helmet

Leading up to the 40th anniversary of Empire Strikes Back, we felt that we had enough equity in our helmets to be able to deliver on Boba Fett. With an ever-expansive partnership with LFL, we were able to visit the Lucasfilm archives and pull reference from the original prop. This enabled us to collect 3D scan data, direct color input, as well as a volume and parts study to ensure that our helmet was a faithful representation.

Mandalorian Helmet

As our design process continued to advance, we wanted to develop a meaningful play experience that would not sacrifice the on-screen aesthetic. Being cognizant of the limited space available for an electronics packet, we based the interaction on a fantasy experience, that would cater to both wearers and those who display. By following a similar manufacturing process as the original screen-used helmet, we worked in layers to dull a mirror finished surface, and used shades of tint along with matte varnish, to mimic the Mandalorian prop.
