Hyperreal Principles
Hyperreal was an all-new fan-oriented segment geared towards authenticity and was inspired by the Star Wars toy photography community. Falling under the Black Series umbrella, Hyperreal introduced an all new 8” figure scale to accommodate a super articulated stainless-steel endoskeleton, insert molded into a soft TPR body to deliver a seamless figure. The characters would include a system of swappable hands, heads, accessories, and a figure stand that were applicable to each release.
Hyperreal Darth Vader
Content coming soon.The segment launched with Darth Vader as a benchmark, as he would require solving several engineering obstacles for the line to overcome in order to proceed. The original concept was presented for the 6” figure scale, but due to the skeleton material limitations, we would not be able to achieve smaller scale characters with accurate proportions. The 8” scale was the solution for our smallest skeleton. Vader is based on his Empire Strikes back appearance and features his unique armor attributes for the film. Given the larger scale, we were able to achieve various detail elements to the armor, accessories, and paint decoration. The helmet achieved a screen-accurate paint scheme, along with aurebesh characters on the chest box. The figure includes 9 alternate hands, premium soft goods, a lightsaber, and a figure stand.
Hyperreal Luke Skywalker
To bookend Vader, and hot on the heels of The Empire Strikes Back anniversary, Luke Skywalker (Bespin) was the perfect companion piece for Hyperreal. Once again, this skeleton presented several new engineering challenges as it would be the first-time treating flesh, hair, and sculpted soft goods fatigues. Proportionately scaled to Vader, Luke is loaded with accessories to help keep a similar perceived value. Luke includes a secondary portrait, 12 alternate hands, iconic lightsaber, DL-44 Blaster Pistol, and a matching figure stand that links together with Vader’s to complete a section of the carbon freeze chamber floor. His entire outfit is treated in subtle weathering along with a matte topcoat to further enhance its appearance.
